asked by: DoctorQuestion on June 20th, 2008
I'm 18 and started having sex at the age of 15. My period is very irregular and I sometimes never see it for up to 2 years. When I am ready to have kids will I be able to?... My boyfriend has often came in me but I was never pregnant.... Is it something wrong with me?

Such rare periods (once in a year or two) are not normal and indicate that there is something wrong in the axis hypothalamus-pituitary-ovaries (hypogonadism). The problem can be located in the ovaries (primary), pituitary gland (secondary) or in the hypothalamus (tertian hypogonadism).

You probably don’t have ovulations and without ovulations you can’t get pregnant.

You should consult a gynecologist about this condition.
