Hi there.

Me, my daughter and her friend went to the pool and we where there for one hour.
Afther that (in the car on the way home) my daughter felt that the heart were beating hard and fast. About an hour later (at home) she said to me "I am so tired of feeling this heart beating so much". I put my ear to her chest to listen. I was surprised/shocked, I could feel the heart beating really hard and fast, like she just had been running. It lasted for about 10 minutes after that before it came down.

She eat spaghetti and fish before we went to the pool, after the pool (obviously when the heart where beating fast) she eat two crispbread with cheese. She have only been drinking water.

This scared me a lot. What might be the cause of this, and is it possible that this was just a one time event?

Raymond

I'm not sure that I have a definite idea in her case. The fact that the problem did resolve is a bit reassuring. Some conditions that I see such as hyperthyroidism (over-active thyroid gland) can cause more sustained fast heartbeat.

There is a possibly that your daughter could have developed an arrhythmia (a change in the electrical activity in the heart) that lead to a period of more rapid heart beat. I suggest having her checked by her pediatrician with thoughts of having an EKG test done to look for any subtle signs of a heart rhythm problem.
