My daughter, 20, once in a while gets a rapid heart beat, then goes away. She had an episode last year in May, that was brought on by our neighbor putting chenicals on his cement patio last year. Becuase of that Last year we took to her family dr, and she was on a heart monitor that she had to wear and that was all fine. In her freshmen year in high school she had an rapid beat episode and we took her to a heart dr, who did various tests, blood work etc and that was fine. Do you think we need to have any further concerns about this? Does this happen with young females occassionaly. She is active girl and has no weight issues etc. Thanks.

Extremely eHealthy
She may have rapid heart beat without an underlying heart disease.
This can be a symptom of overactive thyroid gland, anemia, excessive use of tobacco and coffee, she may be easily excitable, suffer anxiety, have chronic lung disease, or this can be a side effect of certain drugs like asthma and allergy medications.
An occasional rapid heart rate, can be a Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, that appears especially in young people.

Best wishes!
