Q: Random red dots and itchyness. Hives?

I occasionally get a very strange feeling - the feeling of a bunch of bugs crawling on me/biting me in one spot, then it leads to a very strong itchyness, then sometimes (not all the time) I get red small dots on that spot where it happens. These red dots do disappear after a short amount of time but I do have very light unnoticeable red dots around my body in the areas where it does happen. This happens randomly on my chest, back, arms, or legs mostly.

I notice that I do get them more when I
* Am in the shower or bath (water)
* Exercising - taking a walk or running
* When I think about my skin problem in general - I start to get itchy!

I have had this problem for half a year now. It happens 0 times a day to 5. It's very random. Just recently (Today when I write this post) I went to a skin doctor - I explained my situation briefly, and he said that it sounds like hives. I got some pills for it, but I am worried because he didn't really examine me. I looked up hives on wikipedia, and I saw many pictures of people with big red rashes all over them. I do not have this.

Is it possible to have hives even with the situation I just explained? If it sounds like something else, could I please know what it is? Thanks alot!!

Hives
I have this same problem. Except mine are big welts, which ARE hives. But they happen the same exact times as you mentioned. I saw a dermatologist and an allergist but nothing helped. It's so frustrating bc I get them on my face, too.
