Q: Ramipril reaction

Hi,

7 months ago I had a severe reaction to the drug ramipril. After taking only two doses I had terrible stabbing chest pains which after three weeks settled to become a constant dull ache in my right chest. I also suffered from a swollen right wrist and this is still in evidence at the right radial artery. I also have an aching pain in my feet under the arches which feels like it is arterial. My hair has started to recede as well. I have been to my doctor and a rheumatologist who diagnosed costochondritis. Oh and male pattern baldness. I have lost more hair in the last seven months than the last 17 years. I believe it to be something else as this does not conform to having multiple symptoms. The Doctors also refuse tgo believe ramipril caused this even though the symptoms started immediately afterwards. I have also had tests for immune disorders. Can anybody help?
Thanks,

Clive.

Have you found any answers to your symptoms? In researching Costochondritis, it appears that symptoms shouldn't last very long. Are they still there? None of the side effects you mentioned are listed on this informative website about Ramipril: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/d ruginfo/meds/a692027.html

What were the results of your tests for immune disorders? I hope you have some answers by now!

Ramipril side effects
Hi kfkohio,

Thanks for your link. Unfortunately I still have no resolution to my problem. I have just changed my Doctor and am hoping that a new approach will help. My immune dsorder tests came back negative. My personal feeling is that the ramipril somehow affected my cardio vascular function which in turn led to reduced blood flow and circulatory problems. Apparantly ramipril can cause angina in some people so it could be a possibility. Anyway, thanks again. Hope I can sort it soon.

Regards,

Clive.
