Q: Raised Red Bump Rash

I am frustrated bc by mominlaw has had an intensely itchy rash that showed up on her hand back of the neck, hip, and abdomen. The bumps are in clusters and are raised and extremely red and itchy. They have spread now to her other hand and her eyelid.

My concern is for my kids. She wants to see them and be around them, but I am not very comfortable with this,bc we don't know what it is.

She has been to the dermatologist and he did not know what it was. He gave her prednizone? unsure of spelling.

I have two kids, 3 years and 5 months old.

Any suggestions.

I agree with you. Skin rashes can be communicable, and your moth-in-law NEEDS a diagnosis before she should be in contact with your children. I'd suggest that you help her by offering to schedule another appointment with another doctor for a second opinion. Skin conditions need to be seen to be diagnosed, so another appointment with another specialist in town would help.
