Radioactive Iodine I-131

Confused I am a 39 yr old mother of two (6 & Cool who has been diagnosed with graves disease. I am scheduled to have a dose of radioactive iodine i-131 on wed. I have read information re: disease but I can't seem to get much info on side effects and necessary precautions.

Please let me know if anyone has any information regarding the side effects and lenght of time I should not have contact w/ others.
