Hi everyone and thanks in advance for any replys.I'm currently 13 weeks pregnant and ive had 2 misscariages in the last year.I am terrified and want to give this child the best possible chance at life. But lately ive been smoking more than i did before!.I think its the stress and anxiety of being pregnant again my fears are imense.I got up this morning and decided i would reduce my smoking ive only had 2 so far today when usually i'd have had 6 or 7 by now.I wait as long as i possibly can before having one but i would really like to just fight it out and stop altogether!.Will the stress of just stopping harm my baby???.This is my biggest fear that i will end this pregnancy by doing the right thing. On wednesday i am going to visit my local no smoking clinic but wednesday seems so far away and i want to do it now!I feel so bad that the stress of wanting a cigarette is so strong its all i can think of constantly any advice would be much appreciated thanks Smile

I know that stress can cause a womens cortisol levels to rise, and this can cause the baby to be very cranky and hard to please from crying. I have seen anything about complications besides that, but I will keep looking. Its always good for mothers to stay as stress free as possible. I am in a parenthood class now, and the book says that a good way to stop, is just realized what the smoking can do. It can cause low birth weight, and can not let enough oxygen through your placenta to nourish your baby.
