Q: Quit smoking while pregnant

I just found out recently that I am due to have a child in December. I had made a vow that I would quit smoking when I found out I was pregnant, but due to having this horrible habit for about 16 years I cant seem to quit. Is there anything I can do that would aid me in this?

Im not sure if you live with anyone or not, but ask them to help you. Try to make sure you DONT BUY THEM, use the money on more important things. Think about how this would affect your child! Start chewing gum!?? My boyfriend smokes and he is going to quit so that our baby is healthy. He says that is enough to make him quit.

Alright, the most important thing in making effort to quit a bad habit is your determination. If you are determined strongly, you can leave it at this moment but if your endeavor is weak it's going to be difficult. When I was able to make a strong promise to myself I could go for six months without smoking but when I don't have that strong desire to quit, I can't go for a singe day without smoking.

If you're really stuck, the nicoteine gums might help you get through the first couple of days, just to break the habit of puffing. After that it's easy - as long as you cling on to your decision with all of your strength - as concernedn mentioned above.

Btw - it's great that you're reaching out for help. If you fail, don't beat yourself up. Keep trying and you will succeed.

Do it for the baby.
