Quit Smoking and Weight gain

I quit smoking almost 4 months ago and during this time I've gained 5lbs and I can't seem to lose it. I work out 5-6 times a week, watch what I eat, increased the amount of water I drink and I'm still unable to lose the few pounds I've gained. Will my weight ever go back to what it was before I quit?

Yes! I quit smoking 10 months ago, during which time I was very physically active and maintained a healthy diet and I was able to lose weight! Smoking actually increases your metabolism slightly and that's why most smokers do not tend to put on weight, so once you've stopped and your metabolism slows slightly that's where the weight gain can occur. If you just keep on exercising and fuelling your body with nutritious foods your metabolism will speed up again and those 5 pounds will be history. Don't give up! And congratulations for quitting!
