Q: question about seizures

My mom had a seizure about 7 yrs ago and they gave her some pills for them. If she doesn't take them right she will have a seizure. They diagnosed her with something but weren't 100% sure that's what it was. My question is are seizures necessarily inherited and are there any ways to find out for sure if seizures that a parent has are inherited? Thanks.

I have epilepsy. Seizures have many causes and some are not inherited as in the kind that occur from a head injury. A neurologist that specializes in epilepsy is your best source for info. If needed get a referal from your primary care doctor. Good luck!
