Question about diabetic neuropathy and resveratrol

Hello Folk's,

I am a 44 year old male who has been a Type 1 diabetic since 5 years old. I have had some of the complications of long term diabetes occur over the years such as retinopathy and neuropathy.

I abused my body when I was younger mostly by not taking the bet care of myself. Nowadays I keep my A1C's in the 5's (yes 5's). It is not easy but I figure it is better late than never to take care of myself.

OK so here is a list of all the stuff I take to TRY and stay healthy. Don't laugh........ it's a big list.

So know onto my question. I recently started taking resveratrol. I've been on it for a couple weeks now and notice that my neuropathy symptoms are getting worse. Please note that in the past when I was first diagnosed with neuropathy I started taking most of the above listed vitamins/supplements and noticed that m symptoms also got worse. After some research I learned that the worsening of my symptoms was actually caused by healing. In other words my peripheral nerves were waking up. I seem to be having the same thing going on since starting the resveratrol. My question/s is this. Do you think the symptoms I am having know are being caused by the resveratrol working or could it be caused by the resveratrol causing other problems that contribute or cause neuropathy such as copper chelation?

Thanks
Ed

I have been taking a resveratrol supplement for 3 1/2 years now (Shaklee's Vivix.) I have had a foot pain problem ever since 1983 when I first noticed the severe pain after exercising. I was operated on in 1984 to remove a Morton's Neuroma in my left foot. The healing took about 6 months and then I was pain free for about 3 months. After that, a duller pain returned.
I then had the foot operated on again in 1987. This only partially helped, still had chronic pain.
After taking Vivix for several months, starting in 2008, I started noticing partial relief of the pain. Today, about 95% of the pain is gone. I can only attribiute that to taking Vivix which is a muscadine grape extract containing resveratrol and all the other polyphenols contained in the grape.
Since this was a neurological issue, I would recommend you stay with the resveratrol treatment. It is an anti-inflammatory that, in addition to providing pain relief, also helps fight cancer and heart disease as shown by he research.
