I had a sore above a tooth that had been filled years ago. It produced pus after pressing on it, but now its drained and hasn't filled up again. Am I in the clear, or should I still be worried? thanks!

Sounds like an abcsess. It will come back. It basically means your tooth is dying and the infection isn't causing you pain b/c it is draining, but it's pretty much a guarantee that it's going to come back. Treatment for an abscess is either to pull the tooth or have a root canal. You can try to buy yourself time but it's always best to go have an x-ray and have it treated asap as anytime your bosy has an infection it is taking a toll on your immune response.

I've been in the dental field for 14 years. Hope this helps some. Lauren
