When I woke up today my chest hurt like hell where my heart would be. It's sort of a pulsing stabbing ache that matches my heart beat. It has come and gone all day hurting more when i breath harder, laugh, or lie on my stomach. I'm a fifteen year old female. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to the ehealthforum. I am glad to help you out. Considering the kind of pain you’re going through, there’s a possibility that the pain is muscular in nature.

However, any chest pain should be thought of cardiac (heart) in origin unless proven otherwise.

I’ll suggest getting an ECG done as sometimes the pain of viral pericarditis(inflammation of the covering of the heart) can also present in a similar way. An ECG should help in picking up the diagnosis.

It also makes sense to do an x-ray of the chest to rule out pathology in the lung like pleuritis causing the same. Please consult a physician for the same. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
