I have quite dark body hair, on legs and arm pits, I also suffer with quite dark hairs on my upper lip. Am I OK to pluck the ones on my face?

I also get a really hairy bum, down the back of my legs, over my bum cheeks and right around the anus. It grows quite quickly but not necessarily thick all the time although it is very dark. I have begun shaving it off and waxed it for the first time the other day due to embarassment and being in a relationship, but someone mentioned Polycystic Ovaries cause hair growth. What are the symptoms? Is there any treatment that would be available from my GP because it is really getting me down, its coming up to summer and I want to be able to go out and not be embarrased.
