hi there, well 5 years ago i was 'diagnosed' with ptsd from childhood abuse, although i cant really remember much of what the health professional actually said, i think it was more just mentioned in passing. anyhow iv been ok for a few years, well nothing like this. now i keep having nightmares, usually associated to my abusers in some way. i also tend to have memories/flashbacks at night when something will suddenly come to mind and sometimes it'l make me really panicky and feel sick.
then the other night i started to keep waking up in my sleep for just like a second or so, in which id feel intense panic and not know why, and then id fal back to sleep. and i kept waking for these breif seconds, feel panic, and fall back to sleep again. it was really weird. has anyone else experienced this?
thanks,

i was never dianogsed with ptsd but i was abused in my childhood. i had nightmares in my early to mid twenties about the house i lived in as a child.

i thought that everytime i have a dream about that house it means i was going to go through something. i called that house the house of horror.

weird enough my little sister would always have a nightmares about that house also.
i did get flash backs, and strong memories in my twenties also. when i got older they just faded away.
if your not seeing a therapist i advice you to see one. but i never did and i got over it fine.
are you able to drink herbal tea to help you relax at night or sleeping pills for a while.

When I was 19, my father suffered a stroke. I was the only one with him when it happened, which meant I had to call 911 and stay with him, alone, until my mother and the ambulance arrived. A few days after the incident I also woke up several times a night, startled and panicky, as if I had jsut had a nightmare, even though there was no dream sequence. It was as if I was subconsciously reminding myself that my father had suffered a stroke. These panicky moments soon manifested into vivid nightmares, re-enacting the day of the incident. I encourage you to see a therapist. I tried to brush off the nightmares as something I would get over in time, but they have persisted and I finally picked up the phone to see a therapist. It could help you too.

Hey, you want to talk about it. I have some advice, but want to wait until you reply before I start giving a bunch of info. Can we talk privately?
I'm guessing you've been dealing with this for a long time.
please write me if you do want to talk.
