my g/f was tested weak positive when she saw the doctor. The doctor gave her provera for 5days to drink. The doctor told her it's use to help her get pregnant. On the 4th day after she drank her pill, she took a hpt and tested positive. will it have any effect on the baby on the long run? Is it the right pill the doctor gave to her?

I don't think the doctor should have given her the provera after she had a weak positive. False positives on a pregnancy test are very rare. In fact, the only instance of a false positive that I know of was because a woman was taking HCG shots to lose weight. (Pregnancy tests check for the prescence of HCG.) A warning says not to take provera if pregnant because it can cause birth defects.
