Q: Provera treatment ?

I just had an endometrial biopsy to test for uterine cancer. The test result was negative, which is FANTASTIC! However, the symptoms still exist and I feel worse and more confused now than before hearing the news. Before having a biopsy, I had a pap smear that was normal. Blood tests revealed I was anemic. My Dr. performed a pelvic exam and said she felt a growth/tumor/fibroid(?)from the outside that concerned her. She ordered a vaginal ultrasound that as I watched seemed to locate a growth or something and a cyst on my ovary, after these results the Dr. ordered the biopsy. I started this process because of the following symptoms:
-Heavy/painful/prolonged periods (31 days, 20 days, 15 days)
-Eratic cycle (42 days btwn periods)
-Heavy vaginal discharge with strong odor
-Pain during intercourse, not cramping, actually hitting something
-Difficulty starting urination
-Pain/burning at various times in pelvic area (ovaries?)
-Fatigue/weakness
All of these symptoms still exist.
The Dr.'s treatment is:
-start Provera
-later an endometrial ablasion
I do not even know the diagnosis!
I should feel happy but I want to know what is wrong with me and what I should do about it.
Thanks for any insight.
