As a cancer patient when I was 17, I developed a DVT and was diagnosed with Factor V leiden and Prothrombin gene mutation, both heterozygous (spelling?). I was never put on any treatment besides for that one clot, which worked. No maintenance. Recently, long story short, I started seeing a cardiologist and told him about my diagnosis, he told me to see a specialist sooner rather than later.
My main question is.....Does anyone else have both of these mutations and what are my risks roughly? I know that I am at a higher risk for DVT but how much? I looked up factor v can put me at a higher risk by 3 times and prothrombin 5-7. That's all off of websites though I want to know what it is if you have both. Kind of nervous, and I started taking baby aspirin because I know I'm not allergic and it's worth a shot. Never was until my doctor looked kind of nervous because I have odd pains in my extremities, which are not consistent with my now herniated disc. Thank you all.
