My dad (age 52) has been having a lot of neck pain and arm pain recently. He finally went into the dr. and they sent him to see an oncologist. On Friday we found out that he has prostate cancer... stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. His PSA level is at 256. The cancer has spread to his lower spine, neck and lung. It is a very aggressive cancer. The tumor in his neck is pinching nerves, so he starts radiation Wed. to try to get it smaller so that hopefully he will retain arm function for a little bit longer. He's already losing feeling in his hand. He has also started hormone therapy. The oncologist said that his cancer is incurable. I am wondering about how long we could possibly expect to still have my dad with us. I can't find anything on the internet that has had prostate cancer this advanced. I also have no clue what to expect. I have never known anyone to have cancer like this. Thank you for your answers!

Sorry to hear about you dad's disease!
Although, no one must be treated as a statistic or number, still, more of the studies give accurate prognosis.
For people whose cancer has already spread to another part of their body, the average life expectancy is only 2 to 6 months.
This, also, depends, on the grade of cancer and the overall condition.
