Q: Prophylactic hysterectomy ?

I am trying to find info/research into the outcomes of women who have undergone a prophylactic hysterectomy/oophorectomy. My mother, maternal grandmother, and probably maternal great grandmother all have died due to ovarian cancer. Two of my sisters have had a hysterectomy around age 30, and another a tubal ligation. I am approaching 30 myself and am unsure what to do. Any suggestions of where to find information/answers? Thanks

Before being performed this procedure, you may consider genetic testing to determine whether you are indeed, a carrier of gene mutations linked with high risk for ovarian cancer.
There are cases when women with strong family history of ovarian cancer, don't have the same risk (don't have the gene mutation).
With this surgery you'll attain the greatest risk reduction for ovarian cancer, but, you'll be at risk for all side effects of premature menopause.

I would imagine finding out I do have the gene would affect insurance? Thanks for the reply.
