Current medical status: Vaginal bleeding, prolonged: IUD inserted 12/09/08 and then removed 12/24/08 due to bleeding and pain; Bleeding continued, and worsened, after removal; 12/28/08 I went to ER and they did Xray and Ultrasound, finding no pieces or tears, sent me home; I am still bleeding now, 9 days after removal... my feet can't get warm, I am worried about anemia. My bleeding is sticky, red like a Coke can, and has small, medium and large sized black jello-like clots PLEASE HELP.. I use a health clinic because I cannot afford a regular GYN and they won't be back in the office until 1/6/08. Also, I run a low grade fever of 99.0.
Current medical treatment: Cypro 500mg, which ended 12/31/08; Ortho-Tri Cyclen LO, which I have been steadily taking for 8 months

Prolonged vaginal bleeding can be due to several causes: hormonal imbalance, trauma, or tumors. Sometimes an anovulatory cycle can occur leading to thickening of the uteral lining and causing more intense vaginal bleeding. The Intrauterine Device that was inserted might have caused a trauma. The clots are formed from the blood, but the fever might indicate that an infection is already spreading. A vaginal examination should be performed. You might want to visit your gynecologist for a check-up.
