I am a 21 year old woman, who is a little confused! I have been on Cerazette for 6 months now and for the past 2 weeks or so I have had a very light period, sometimes pinky-red, sometimes brown. It's not even heavy enough to worry about leaking, it only shows up when I go to the toilet really and can stop for a day and then carry on the next.
I am not sure how long exactly it has been going on for because when it started I assumed it would be a period that lasted approximately 2 days because that's what I have been used to so far. I tend to go a couple of months without a period and then a very short one happens.
I read somewhere that herbal medicines can cause prolonged breakthrough bleeding, although I am not sure whether to believe this or not...I was using herbal aquaban for water retention but have stopped for the past few days to see if it makes any difference, which it hasn't really.
Any responses or similar experiences to mine would be good to hear about, thanks Smile

Its possible your herbal medication is affecting your birth control.

Make sure your doctor knows that you are taking both herbal medication and birth control pills-- I don't know a lot about it, but I do know that some can herbal medications can cause some problems for how your birth control works. If you're having breakthrough bleeding then I suggest you call your doctor up to make sure its ok to take both at the same time.

Otherwise, the breakthrough bleeding should go away eventually, if it doesn't go away within three months then you may need to switch pills.

I started on Cerazette 2 months ago - went to see nurse this week to try and get back on marvelon, as have only had a handful of days without bleeding. Also finding it v hard to lose weight where previously i'd just skip a couple of meals and lose a couple of pounds. Have found i'm tired a lot and feeling quite low. The nurse persuaded me to take the final months supply and see if things settle. I agreed, but within an hour of agreeing I wish i stuck to my guns!

Bleeding with Cerazette
I've been on Cerazette for over a year and for the last two weeks I've had exactly the same as you. I can go for months without any bleeding then I get this. Very frustrating and irritating. I've done my research again and again and always come up with the answer that this can happen and is a possible side effect of taking this pill. From what I can understand sadly its very normal.
