Yodavater falls into the "disempowered" category as well. He has said over at PLA that a woman he was dating had an abortion against his wishes back in the 80s.

That leads me to believe that at least in his case, it is less about "saving the babies" and more about controlling women.

I don't Birch, but I would think it is sort of like some people that protest the war, some do it low key with class (if you want to call it that) while others go over board and in my opinion make fools of themselves.. They get SO involved they end up doing extreme things and looking pretty stupid! Making war over war isn't going to make peace, and neither are extreme things anywhere else.
That's just my thoughts.

Considering this, I guess war is kind of an "abstract" concept and you wouldn't yell at the military on the street or post pictures of them on the internet and label them "Iraqi killers". If you did you'd be all over the news and possibly in jail. Hell, I disagree with the war very, very strongly but I would do such a thing. But it's okay to do this to anonymous women walking into a health clinic. Why?

I want to mention that yesterday I spoke with someone who will not go to PP b/c she is very timid and does not want to go through the protestors. The woman needs STD testing and birth control, not an abortion. There is no other clinic in town that will perform these tests on the sliding scale that she needs.

I want prolife protestors to know the damage they do.

The protesters of whom you are speaking wouldn't care at all about your friend. They would say that if she had sex with only her husband, she wouldn't need STD testing or birth control. Birth control = abortion, anyway, in the minds of the wingnuts.

Not exactly a friend, she's an unmarried drug addict/prostitute and has no busines NOT being on birth control. The same wailing nut jobs outside PP are the ones who vote against social services that would help this woman. And before we get nut jobs on here wailing against me for that comment, think about the voting trend of conservative Americans.

A person may feel motivated to protest against abortion because he/she has a strong sense of wanting to promote justice or save lives.

Btw the Nazi party was neither pro life nor pro choice. Infact abortion was forced on Jews, Gypsies and other "undesirables" and iligal to obtain for the Iconic German woman.

Abortion was a something both used and restricted to try achieve a nazi ideology of advancement of an ayran race along with the destruction of other races.

The Nazi's passed legislation making abortion a high crime. While it is said that they did this and yet encouraged certain ethnicities to abort to perserve their race, I see parallels with the prolife movement.

While prolife advocates wish for all abortions (with minor exceptions) to be penalized, once children are born of a certain race, financial situation, sexual inclination, etc. these same prolife advocates legislate for laws that would be oppressive or discriminatory.

The conservative voting streak, for example, favors laws prohibiting abortion, as well as laws that would make homosexuals second class citizens, laws that inhibit funding for services that assist the poor, and laws that uphold one religion over another.

The difference between the Nazi regime and many prolife advocates is that the prolife advocates wait until someone is born, and then oppress them.

I didn't say Nazi Germany was pro-choice or pro-life. I said Anti-abortion which is why they forced sterilisation on "undesirables"
