Advice is needed, is this a benign condition or something that is indeed worthy of worry?

Hemorrhoids Answer A5682

Current medical status: I really need some advice, I am a 46 yr old male, married with children. For the past 8 or so years I've been having issues with bleed from what appeared to be hemorrhoids . Five years ago I went to see a general surgeon who did say I had hemorrhoids and that he recommended a procedure using elastics to tie them off. I wasn’t ready for that so I waited. Three years ago I went to a proctologist because I had had just about enough of the pain and bleeding after a bowel movement. I was told that the lining of the rectum had prolapsed a bit which was the cause of the discomfort. He offered a surgery to do something that I did not quite understand except that he hoped that the scarring afterward would hold the lining in place. Since it seemed that the surgery wasn’t quite a cure I opted to wait and see. It is now 8 years since I began having this problem and I am scared to death that it’s something else. Every time I go to have a bowel movement, I have to reinsert the prolapsed tissue afterward. The prolapse isn’t huge but enough to be concerned. It bleeds a bit and I suffer with burning for hours later. It feels like I’m developing a fissure but I’m not sure. I know I have to see someone again but I fear for the worse. Help!

According to the information you provided, your condition at the very moment is characteristic for hemorrhoids. The condition has already moved to a worse stage than before (prolapse of the hemorrhoids all the time). Whether you have a fissure or not, can not be said without an examination from a proctologist. Delaying the treatment might cause further complications, which include pelvic inflammation and abscesses.

However, which type of treatment would be the best might be recommended only by a specialist, while the decision is yours, of course.
