My 83-year-old father has a staph infection the size of a grapefruit on his elbow. His doctor plans to lance and drain it on Thursday. On Sunday, a family reunion will be held at my parents' home. Two of my nieces have given birth recently, their babies being now only ten weeks old and three weeks old. Through research I've learned that staph is highly contagious and can survive on many surfaces. I am very concerned that my nieces' babies will be exposed to the bacteria.
