hey all,

my dad was diagnosed with stomach cancer and diabetes type II last august (2008), he's been on a steady regimen of chemo since october, an every other week plan of a continuous infusion over 2 days of 5fu and a single dose of leucovorin and docetaxel. initially, he put some weight back on and was feeling much better, but recently that has not at all been the case. the drug prescribed (he has both the compazine and odansetron) to him for the nausea and vomiting also have not really helped.

he has lost 5 pounds since his last chemo round, and seems to not be able to hold anything down and is also often in an extreme amount of pain. It seems like although he's able to eat food, once it is digested it causes and extreme amount of pain for him which is then relieved finally when he vomits up all of the food he tried to eat in the first place. which obviously cannot be good for his nutrition or helping his state. I am aware that at his stage of cancer, cure is no longer an option, but i would atleast like to help make the prolongation of his life better, and by that i mean help his intake of food. does anyone have any suggestions of how to help this? or maybe suggestions of what he could possibly eat?

please, i think the inability to keep food down is driving his spirits down.

sincerely,
a loving daughter
