Hi all,

I just had a rough few days, all cuz of bladder infection. I had the urge to urinate every mins or less, and when I went, no urine really came out and it hurt so bad it sent me dizzy. First day it happened during the day, wasnt so bad actually, then at night, it worsen, I had to get cranberry juice or orange juice as Ive read they help. I got orange juice (concentrate), drank it, slept thru the night. Next day, I was ok in the morning, had cranberry juice (concentrate), drank a lot of water, i survived thru the day no problem, then at night the attack happened, I kept going back and forth to toilet, stressed out, frustrated, couldnt sleep til 6 AM. next day same thing happen, however I got smthg from the chemist, i forgot what its called, but its cranberry powder in sachets, mix it with water, take 3 times a day. next day, i read everything i could find abt bladder infection, did everything ppl suggested, didnt consume any dairy or sugary products, stop drinking water 2 hrs bfor i go to bed and i slept like a baby. thanks be to god.

i have not touched any dairy or sugary products for 3 days because it seemed to work for me. some1 says it seems to happen when she consumes milk, then some1 says bladder infection feeds on sugar (no wonder i was so ill eventho i had loads of cranberry juice, because they were all from concentrate). i dont know if its the fact that dairy and sugar triggered my infection but if it helps me, i wont touch them again. it was so horrible, the pain, the urge, urghhh.

can anyone share abt the food or things we should do and eat and avoid?

thx

Hi,
Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am glad to help you out. This symptom of frequent urination (polyuria) can be due to diabetes mellitus. Other possibilities are diabetes insipidus, glomerulonephritis, pyelonephritis(inflammation of the kidneys),urinary tract infection, hypercalcemia, hypokalemia(low potassium),hyperthyroidism, hyperparathyroidism and diuretic drugs.

In my opinion, investigations like kidney functions, blood sugar levels, ultrasound lower abdomen , intravenous pyelography , thyroid function tests and cystoscopy may be needed to confirm a diagnosis. Drink plenty of water and cranberry juice and consult a urologist for diagnosis.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
