Depo provera (generic name: medroxyprogesterone) is a medication that is used to prevent pregnancy. It is not quite clear why you were given depo provera one month after the c-section and the end of your pregnancy which was terminated by giving birth to your baby.

Progesterone is a hormone that is needed for the pregnancy. If there is a drop of progesterone in the blood, the pregnancy might be terminated and a miscarriage might occur. By giving medroxyprogesteron, the production of Follicle-stimulating hormone is reduced, thus significeantly reducing the chances for ovulation and pregnancy.

There is a possibility that your hormone levels have not recovered from the recent pregnancy and the depo provera shot interferes with the normal restoring of the hormone levels in the blood. You might want to visit your gynecologist for a physical examination, laboratory tests, and other diagnostic procedures. If the bleeding is not so severe, then the gynecologist might want to just wait for the three months to pass and then give you medications that might help you in restoring the normal hormone levels.
