Why would a woman be prescribed Metronidazole 500mg, 2x day for 7 days + Fluconazole 150mg, one dose?
Is this an STD? Or is it possible that the cause is purely natural, and not from having sex of any kind?

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
It is difficult to comment on the treatment prescribed without examining you and going through your investigation results (vaginal swab/smear test results). Combination treatment is usually given when more than 1 causative agent is suspected or to prevent yeast infection that can occur after strong antibiotic use. If you are doubtful about the treatment prescribed, consider revisiting your doctor/gynecologist for having vaginal swab/smear test to identify the causative agent and explanation for the treatment prescribed. If you are sexually active, your partner should also be prescribed treatment simultaneously to prevent chances of re-infection.
Take care.
