I am 8 months pregnant and my doctor just prescribed me metrogel. I don't know what this is for exactly and I want to know why would she prescribe me this.

what? Your doctor prescribed you something and didnt tell you why? Find a new doctor.

Looks like a skin treatment for rosacea. I'm with natalia-- find a new doctor.
