Its gas and completely normal. You'll actually lose some of that bloat shortly.

lagringarican787 - I'm 5 months pregnant and I look about the same as I did at 8 weeks because of the bloating I experienced. Your uterus isn't big enough at 8 weeks to cause you to show

my sister showed.. and it wasnt just bloating, both of them did actually... they kept gettin bigger starting at around 6 weeks... they thought the same thing and there doctors said some people just show different then other and its rare, but it happens... believe it, its a lot more than bloating, im in maternity pants already because the biggest size jeans wouldnt even snap... and its been gettin bigger every since around 5 1/2 6 weeks and around 9 now... my doctor even sayd "wow a early shower" and thought it was funny lol i dont find it too funny when i have to hide this from my step dad for another 4 or 5 months

So if it isn't bloating, how does the doctor explain your early showing since your uterus is still tucked behind your pubic bone?

What exactly are you "showing"? You do not have a big baby in you. Your baby is one inch long give or take a couple millimeters. How can this show inside you?

Why do you have to hide your pregnancy from your step dad for 4-5 mths?

You do not show as early as 6 weeks - there's nothing to show. Your uterus is still tucked deep inside your pelvis. Your baby is the size of your thumbnail. There's nothing sticking out at all except for fluid and fatty tissue - aka, bloating. You're not showing - you're bloated.

First-time mothers usually don't start really showing until 18 weeks or beyond - that's when your uterus is actually grown a bit and is filling up your abdomen.

The uterus at 8 weeks has not even come close to popping out of your pelvis (which is when you show)

Here's a picture to explain where your uterus is and why its impossible to show that early. No one is arguing simply explaining that your uterus grows in a certain manner and at a certain rate and not until 3 months is the uterus large enough to even start coming out of your pelvis. Trust me when I was at your stage I thought I was showing as well, and believe it or not bloating can feel hard.

well to everyone else, BABY OR NOT its still showin cuz its getting bigger, not going away, and from the pregnancy, so its called "showing" not "uterus sticking out" and when im showing enough that size 13 pants, when im usually a 7 arent even fitting and i need maternity, then i onsider it showing lol

and i have to hide it because he will kick me out and make me live with my real dad, so no one is telling him

That is bloating. It will actually go down some in a few weeks.

A size 7 to 13 in two months? Have you been to see a doctor yet? I would strongly suggest doing so because even bloating shouldn't make you double in size. I'd be concerned gaining that much in such a short period of time

Too much sodium, not enough activity. That plus not drinking enough water will have a definite effect on your body.

You're not "showing", sweetie. You're bloated. If you want to call it "showing" you can... but you're showing your bloat, not your baby.

like every one is saying...its bloating...i had bloating when i was around 6 wks and then by 10 wks my stomach was almost completly flat again. Like tanya said...you should be concerned about the amount of weight you have gained. Im 21 wks preg. and i still have yet to gain any extra weight. Ive gained back the 10 lbs ive lost....but nothing extra. Drink lots of water and eat a healthy diet with lots of fruits and veggies for your baby.

maybe you might want to call them to see if you cant get in earlier. Are you eating a lot of salty things?? That will make bloating worse. I would be concerned being 8 wks preg and being in maternity clothes so soon....to much weight to fast. Im not trying to sound mean, just honest.

I thought you said your doctor already told you that you were an early show-er but you haven't had an appointment to see her/him yet?

You don't need to get in any earlier unless something is wrong. Belly bloat isn't wrong. The reason women bloat is due to gassiness, more fluids, and to be really honest - a lot of people suck their stomachs in way more than they ever think they do. Pregnancy, even early pregnancy, is a time to let it all hang out. Wink

that was my family doctor not my OB...
i thought they wanna see you before 10 weeks though ill be almost 14 weeks for my first appt. and im gettin pissed because i have horible morning sickness and she wont give me any medacine, and wont move my appt, up so what the heck am i supposed to do to then, lose my job? lovely

but that doesnt sound normal to bloat enough where i have to wear maternity clothes... all my sisters did the same and there super skinny like barely 100 lbs
