Q: prenatal vitamin lapse

Hi,

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for over a year. I have been taking prenatal vitamins pretty consistently for the last 14 months. This past Jan and early Feb I got a little lax about taking them (was frustrated and discouraged about getting not pregnant) Maybe took them 3 days a week instead of 7. Well, wouldn't you know I conceived in early Feb and am now 6 weeks pregnant. I am so worried that my lapse at the critical time could be a really bad thing, especially since I am almost 39. Does anyone know whether the vitamins build up in your system and the folic acid might still have been present during those early weeks? I have been back to taking them regularly for approx 3 weeks now. Appreciate any input!

Thanks...

As long as you are taking them regularly from now on, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you are worried, ask your doctor about it on your next visit. I'm sure you're fine though. Just make sure to eat lots of spinach and leafy greens.

you cant change what you did before you knew so try not to worry, a lot of things are fortified with vitimins and even folic acid these days

to be completly honest i didnt take my vitimins every day when i was pregnant with my daughter (i have a HORRIBLE memebory and they made me feel awful to boot) and about 20 weeks or so i stopped completly (because i had lost them somewhere, i found them under my little brothers bed at about 35 weeks or so)
