I am seeking some advice please, I have been recently told I may have had a premature menopause. I am 25 years of age and have not had a period for approx 6 months.

I have been experiencing hot flashes and night sweats. My FSH levels have been tested twice and have been 100 and my eostrogen is unusually low. All other things like auto immune diseases, thyroid etc have been tested and ruled out. When I had an ultra sound it indicated that my ovaries were smaller than normal.

So now my specialist has referred me for an ovarian biopsy to determine if I have any follicles left. I have not found much information linking this as a common method of diagnosis and have read of the risks involved. I was hoping to hear from someone who has had this procedure done for the same reasons. Any information or advice would be much appreciated?

premature menopause
Early or premature menopause is defined as menopause before the age of 40. Premature ovarian failure, surgery, and chemotherapy may all result in early menopause. About one in a hundred women may experience early menopause; some may be teenagers or in their twenties. Symptoms of early menopause tend to be very similar to those of normal menopause. Changes in the timing and duration of menstrual periods and hot flashes are common.
