I have been on Microgestin for 6 years with no problems. I was on antibiotics and had surgery, then my next cycle I had a heavy period, which is atypical since I have been on the pill. Two weeks later I started spotting and the same day got slammed with a bunch of pregnancy symptoms- headaches, nausea, really tired, feeling like I'm going to faint, sore nipples, feeling like something is moving down there, etc. After a week of this I was afraid I might be pregnant so I stopped taking the pill a week early. Four days after stopping I spotted for one day. When it came time for my period, it was late and I still had all the pregnancy symptoms for three weeks. I took a hpt and it was negative. I went to the doc to make sure and they did a urine test and blood test- both negative. Now I am almost a week late and still no period, and still have the pregnancy symptoms. I am wondering if stopping my pill early is the reason I have not gotten my period. If so, does anyone have any idea when I should expect it? Every day that goes by without it makes me wonder if I am one of the few people who get a negative blood test but are really pregnant. My doc checked me for everything possible and everything else is normal. Any ideas?

Well, you have a couple of issues going on. Taking antibiotics while on the Pill can lessen their effectiveness so that could have thrown things off a bit. Then you stopped taking the Pill so that has messed things up as well. Your best bet is to use a nonhormonal birth ontrol method such as condoms until you know whether you are pregnant or not/ until you get your period. Then, if you are not pregnant you can go back on the Pill. Keep in mind that you will have to wait again for the Pill to become effective.
