I was on Loestrin 24 for 6 months. I have and always have had a normal regular period.

My first day of my last period was Friday, September 5th. I was supposed to start Friday, October 3rd which was very unusual not to start. I was sick to my stomach Tuesday evening, September 30th. I ended up throwing up and felt better that next morning. Saturday, Oct 6th I took a test and it was negative. Since it was negative I went ahead and started my new pack of pills that Sunday, which is a different pill because I couldn't stand paying so much a month, so I switched. On Wednesday, Oct 8th I was really sick, but I figured it was a stomach virus. I took another test that day and negative. I have symptoms of being pregnant but all the tests say negative. I took another one Oct 11th and yesterday Oct 22nd. I'm still on birth control until I find out for sure. I should start next week.

What do you think is going on? Could I be pregnant?

If you are on birth control, I would think it is unlikely that you are pregnant, (because most methods are very reliable being up in the high 90%'s for reliability) especially as you are saying that all your tests came back negative. Although it does happen from time to time.
Being ill could be a side effect of the pills, or like you say it could be a stomach bug, or maybe just an upset, but if you are being sick this could reduce the reliability as you might not be getting the whole dose into your system.
If you were having sex during illness did you use a condom as back-up?

Being ill can apparently mess up your periods, I suppose periods can sometimes jump randomly too (I've known mine come over a week late on a couple of occasions, mine are quite often early or late, rarely follow an exact pattern), so it could just be a "blip".
I don't reckon you need to worry too much, but then that just my personal opinion.
Go with your instincts, if you are really worried then go and see your doctor to put your mind at rest.
Good luck! Smile

Thank you for your response.

I have never missed a period while on birth control, nor any other time except when I was pregnant. Besides when I was on the shot years ago. But that is what the shot does. I'm regular even when I wasn't on birth control.

The first time I got sick (couple days before I was suppose to start) I just threw up a little. The week after I was supposed to start is when I was sick for a full day. So I can't say getting sick caused me to miss my period. And I didn't have sex while I was sick and I don't use any other form of birth control.

I have a 2 year old so I know what it is like being pregnant. But I wasn't on birth control last time. I have pretty much the same symptoms I did then making me think I am pregnant. I am supposed to start this week so I will just see what happens. If I don't I will go to the doctor to see what he says.

Thanks again!!!

You did switch your pills, which can give you some side effects for a few months.
If you were almost 2 months pregnant then you'd mostlikely trigger a positive with a pregnancy test.

If you don't get your period and still don't get a positve on a hpt, then go to the doctor for a blood test.

i agree with maddie, maybe it was because you switched your pills..when i first started the pill i was nauseous on and off for a month and had random headaches...but the side effects subsided after a while

I didn't switch pills until after I had already missed my period. I should start this week but so far no signs of it. And I have been taking the inactive pills since Sunday n with Loestrin 24 I started 2 days of taking them. I am now taking the generic of Loestrin 120.

I called my drs office yesterday and spoke to the nurse, she said for me to wait to see if I start then call Monday so they can get me in to check me out if I haven't started yet.

I have every symptom I had when I was pregnant the first time and I feel like I am. I don't know if it is because I missed my period last month and now I am just worried about it or what. But if I don't start by Saturday morning I will take a test first thing. Then go to the Dr.

Thanks for your responses , I will keep you all informed on what happens.

naccalcutie, if you're getting negatives and still think you're pregnant then go to the doctor's for a blood test. Blood test WILL be accurate.

Did you talk to your gyno about your light periods?

noccalcutie, getting off birth control does mess with your system. Just like getting on them. But with me starting to have problems 6 months after taking them worries me. The nurse told me if I even had a spot that was considered a period. Which I haven't had anything. So it could be the same with you. If you aren't having any symptoms I wouldn't think you are pregnant.

Before I got on BC years ago I had really short light periods. Then I got on them and started having longer heavier ones. I got off them had a child and they were back to the way they were when I first started. Then I got back on BC but I'm on a lo dose so my periods are still light, well when I was having them anyways.

But your body changes because you aren't getting the same amount of hormones as you get when you are on BC. And that is what scares me if I am pregnant, I got pregnant on BC and I take it EVERY DAY around the same time every day too. But if you are having symptoms and think you are pregnant then do what Maddie34 said, go to the Dr to get checked out. Even if you're not pregnant it wouldn't hurt to make sure everything is alright. Good luck!!!
