I started taking the shot Dec 28, 2007 and did not take my 3rd shot since me and my boyfriend decided to have a child. I started my period (since i hadn't had one since november) the week after my next due date for my shot. Now its been 2 1/2 months since my last period and I want to know if i'm pregnant yet. I took 2 pregnancy tests and they came out negative...but i'm experiencing nausea, breast swelling, fatigue, and crazy emotional phases. What do you guys think? Should I go see a doctor?

Losing the regular cycles is an expected temporary side effect after quiting the hormonal contraception. Body needs some time (usually several months) to establish regular ovulations and periods. Fertilization ability is decreased during that time. Period of time needed for normalization of the reproductive function is longer if used depo-contraception shot than if used pills.

Negative pregnancy tests proved that you are not pregnant. The rest of the symptoms (nausea, breast swelling, fatigue, mode changes etc. could be also side effects from the depo-contraception.

You can consult your gynecologist if side effect become unbearable.
