Hi!

I am on my second cycle off the pill. My first cycle was 36 days. I am on day 31 today of my second cycle. I've had unprotected sex this month, but have been tracking my BBTs & thought it was outside of 'fertile days' (although in truth, I'm still getting the hang of it! haha) For the past 3-4 days, I've had almost constant nausea- it's mild, but ever-present. Alleviates slightly in the evening. I'm also sensitive to smells- and cannot drink coffee at all- makes me sick to think about it (and I'm normally a coffee addict!) I'm also SUPER tired & have swollen, tender breasts and bloating (which could be pre-period stuff?) Oh yeah- and a weird symptom- my gums are bleeding when I brush them, which is not normal. And I'm crazy emotional. I think that's it.

I took a pregnancy test 2 days ago & was negative but am wondering if it was just too early & is it possible I am preggo?

At first with the nausea, I thought it was maybe a stomach bug?

Thanks!

Hi Minervah,

Lucky for you, there are a few things going on.

1. Summertime is a time of stomach viruses. We eat more fruits (with bacteria in them), drink more water (which dilutes stomahc acid) and are generally more prone to stomach issues.

2. Your period may not have totally established itself and you may not be ovulating after coming off birth control.

3. It sounds like you're doing some "family planning". Just remember that the most fertile days are about 14 days BEFORE your next period is due to arrive. In your case, this is probably somewhere between Days 20-25.

I'd suggest that you wait for a little while longer, and continue to test at home. If in a week, you still don't have your period, consult with your GYN for a blood test or ultrasound to confirm or exclude pregnancy, and to also report the delayed period. Good luck! Please update.
