Early Pregnancy Signs and Symptoms Answer A29327
Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
If you have been having regular menstrual cycles, it could suggest that you are still having ovulation and, chances of pregnancy are a possibility (as suggested by your recent symptoms) if you have been sexually active without protection. Urine pregnancy test kits usually start showing positive results after about 20 days post-conception (roughly corresponding to about 1 week after your missed periods). Look out for development of any other new symptoms if pregnancy is suspected. If you have got abnormal periods, or if you suspect chances of pregnancy, consider visiting your doctor/gynecologist at the earliest for thorough examination (to confirm pregnancy related changes/signs in body) and blood/serum HCG level test (to confirm/rule out pregnancy accurately). You can also consider taking a repeat urine pregnancy test (on an early morning first urine sample) after 7-10 days of missed/altered periods to see if you get positive results, or get it confirmed by a blood HCG test (avoid lot of fluid intake or caffeinated beverage intake in the previous night before the test).
If pregnancy gets ruled out, further evaluation would be needed to look for the underlying cause for your altered periods and symptoms. Treatment as needed (based on examination and investigations results) would be started to help you. If menopausal onset is suspected, a hormonal analysis done would help to confirm/rule it out. Be in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately. Take adequate rest. Drink plenty of water. Maintain healthy diet.
Take care.
