I am on the pill and the other week, i took it late, i was ment to take it at around 8am but i didnt, until midnight. Then me and my boyfriend had sex, this was about a week after my last period. I carried on my pill for the rest of the month correctly. I then waited until my next period was due, and it came on time. But i have gained alot of weight, and i am feeling sick most of the time, always in a mood, and i have really bad cravings to chocolate at the minute. I also have pains in my lower back. I am really scared incase im pregnant, does this sound like i could be because ive heard you can still have a period if your pregnant? Embarassed

No, if you are having periods, you aren't pregnant. You can always take a test if you think you are one of those really rare cases that has a period during pregnancy, but a period is almost always a sign that you aren't, so don't worry about it. You can crave chocolate and not be pregnant and you can just be in a little bit of a slump as far as feeling sick goes. Get some rest and relax a little bit.

Gaining weight and feeling sick are common with birth control, especially if its within the first few months but even sometimes after that. If you are having your period, you are most likely not pregnant. You sound pretty safe.

also, you are correct. The periods while on the pill technically aren't periods, because a period is when you expel the egg and uterine lining after ovulating. Birth control prevents ovulation so no egg is expelled. However, the "period" you have while on birth control still expels the uterine lining. That is why you probably aren't pregnant. Even if somehow you managed to ovulate and fertilize the egg, the period you are having is getting rid of what the baby would have implanted itself in.
