Pregnancy possible right after menstrual period Posted: 04-26-08 17:27pm
One of my friends claims that you won't
get pregnant from having sex right after
your period. Is this fact or fiction? I'm
slightly worried that she feels this way
becuase i think she may not be protecting
herself.

If you follow the typical cycle and
ovulate only approximately 10 day prior to
your period you should not get pregnant
right after your period has ended. There
are many times a woman's body will not
follow that cycle and may ovulate earlier
than normal. Many factors can cause this.
It is risky to rely on your cycle as your
only means of preventing pregnancy. Many
women have become pregnant with that
method. What is your friend doing to
prevent STD's? This is perhaps a bigger
risk and could be life threatening. She
should always insist on her guy using a
condom. This will significantly reduce the
risk of an unplanned pregnancy and STD
transmission. So, the short answer is use
condoms! Tell her that and encourage her
to take care of herself as nobody else
will.

So far as I know they were eachother's
firsts so I'm guessing that she has done
nothing about STD's. She doesn't go into
detail about that stuff with me haha.
Thanks for clearing up my question, I'll
talk to her about using condoms becuase I
agree with you, she needs to take care of
herself. I'm prepared to be there for her,
should anything happen, but I don't want
anything to
