Q: Pregnancy & kidney stones

I have been having horrible kidney stone pain in my lower right back & front every few days and was wondering what can be done to alleviate the pain? I am about 9 weeks pregnant and my urologist says the stone will not pass on its own but I cannot have it taken out, etc until the 5th or 6th month.

Why does he say it won't pass on it's own? I had a kidney stone when I was at about the same point in my pregnancy. They couldn't give me the high-dose pain meds, but still gave me something. I then went home and passed it. I actually didn't see that one pass (it was my 3rd stone) but the pain went away and never returned. Are you SURE it's a kidney stone? How would they have it taken out? I've never heard of that option either!
