Q: Pregnancy and unprotected sex
asked by: DoctorQuestion on May 9th, 2008
It's been about 2 weeks since my last period.
About a week ago I got what looked liked normal spotting, but in the days following I've had a constant brown discharge.
My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex the day before I "spotted".

Could this be a sign of pregnancy or something more serious?
In addition, everytime we have sex, the condom comes out a little pinkish - he's a lot larger than my past boyfriends...could he be hurting me? His last girlfriend had a problem with this as well as had to go to the hospital so I'd like to avoid that.

Spotting and brown discharge are not signs of pregnancy. One week after having unprotected sex is too early to say if you are pregnant or not. Chances for getting pregnant if one is having sex in the first week of the cycle (during the period) or at the end of the first week are small.

The vagina is a very elastic organ and if it is wetted good any size of penis could pass. I believe that you shouldn’t have any problems if your vagina becomes wet enough during the foreplay and if your partner is gentle during penetration. Lubricants may also help in such cases.
