i have read that implanon suppresses the release of eggs. what happens to those eggs after the rod is removed? are they released all at once or reabsorbed into the body? i had the rod in for 6 mths. i had it removed on 23/5/12 and tested positive to a preg test on 19/6/12. do i have a higher chance of multiple pregnancy? how far along do i calculate my pregnancy?
Welcome to ehealthforum,
The eggs if not released during the menstrual cycle, get absorbed. When you get the Implanon removed, your cycles slowly get back to normal and you start having normal egg release from ovary. It does not usually result in multiple pregnancy. If you have not had a period in between (after the removal), it is difficult to calculate your probable conception date. You can consider getting a dating scan done to help with finding the probable conception date based on baby growth and gestational age at time of scan. Another method would be to look at your serum HCG levels and correlate the values to the gestational age. Visit your gynecologist/obstetrician for further discussion and details.
