I had a hiatal hernia repair almost three years ago. Since the surgery, I can no longer vomit. I recently had a stomach virus and I heaved every 45 minutes for about 12 hours. I took phenergan suppositories, but they didn't work. It was a HORRIBLE, painful experience. I am 26 years old, and my husband and I are beginning to talk about starting a family. However, we are VERY worried about the nausea and vomiting that sometimes accompany pregnancy. I'm terrified that I will be heaving for 9 months, and that my hiatal hernia repair will stretch and I will be back to square one (with acid reflux and uncontrollable vomiting, etc.). I guess my question is what anti-nausea medications are safe during pregnancy? And will being pregnant reverse the effects of my hiatal hernia repair?
