Are pregnancy hormone levels still high after having a medical abortion?
The reason I ask this is because I had one done on August 2008. On September 3, I had the Mirena put in. I didn't have any sex until after the Mirena insertion.
Anyway, I went for my 1st. Mirena check up on October 15, and was told that it was in it's place; I also had a pregnancy test done that day, and, it came out positive. SO, they had me return on November 14 to do another pregnancy test. And, that pregnancy test came out POSITIVE AGAIN Shocked
Could it be that there are still some pregnancy hormones left? I was told that pregnancy hormone levels decrease slowly. Is this true?
Or, does it mean that I am actually pregnant? I have been feeling, very dizzy, nautious and bloated lately

I'm assuming the "post abortion" hormones are the same in both medical and surgical abortion. I had a surgical abortion at 5 weeks and 6 days. My pregnancy symptoms actually got worse before they got better. I had some symptoms for 3 months afterward (they mostly got worse around the time of my period). So, I believe the hormone sticks around for a little while afterward.

I'm not quite sure how long the pregnancy test would remain positive, though. I believe it's something like 6-8 weeks after an abortion. It sounds like it has been at least 3 months for you, and there is a possibility that you could in fact be pregnant again. What did your doctor say to you about this possibility?
