Q: Pre-existing Injury and Insurance

Hello,

So I had short term coverage which expired this past Friday (I did not know it was going to expire this day or I would not be in this spot). The day before it expired I hurt my knee playing basketball. I went to the doctor on Thursday (while I was still covered), and he said to keep it iced and all that stuff.

Realizing that I was not covered I went and got coverage again and I am now covered.

I was trying to set up the MRI today and when they MRI called my new insurance they said they can not cover me because they think it is a pre-exsting injury.

Does anyone have any advice on how to handle this? Should I just go back in to the doctor and tell them I re-injured it today and that is was fine until then? Pretty much restarting the whole process over.

Other than that I am not sure what to do or should I call them and try and talk with the insurance company?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks,
Adam

Post Pre-existing Injury and Insurance
For one thing when you filled out your application and did not
list your knee injury which would have excluded you
from coverage makes it insurance fraud. Also since you
already went to the Dr before you got coverage
there is a record of the preexisting condition so its not likely
the insurance will cover it. I know it sucks but you are going to
have to try a different means of getting it looked at.Insurance
companies will do everything in their power to not pay your
claim.They investigate relentlessly especially for
a high priced MRI and then after you have incurred huge bills
will deny your claim I wish you luck and a speedy recovery.
