Q: Pre-employment drug tests
asked by: DoctorQuestion on June 12th, 2008
I have a history of producing kidney stones about every two years. A few years ago I was diagnosed and prescribed antibiotic and Lortab for pain. I didn't use all of my medicine, because the stone passed on its own and I didn't need it. I saved them medicine in case the stones returned. Sure enough two years later the pain returned. I took large doses of ibuprofin to no avail. I then took one of the old Lortab's. Next day I took a pre employment drug test. Will this Lortab and my old script result in a failed drug screen. This drug screen is for a career in teaching that I have worked for years of college preparing for. Any answers will be appreciated.

Kidney Conditions Answer A4283
Diagnosis that has been suggested: Kidney stones
Current medical status: kideny stone passing

It depends on which drugs those pre-employment tests can detect. If they can detect opiate drugs including hydrocodone the tests will be positive because Lortab is a combination of hydrocodone and acetaminophen.
