I have a mole that as long as I can remember has been on the back of my thigh. A couple of months ago the mole got a crust to it, I scratched it & it bleed (several times), then got to where it was raised with white "bits" that would come off like sand. Last week (5/16/11) I went to the Dr. and she froze it; it's still raised & it now looks like a blister, of sorts. The reason I'm here is that suddenly this afternoon (5/27/11), I'm having pain steming from the mole site up to the center of my butt cheek. The pain is deep within and it gets sharp & dull. Do you have any ideas? Thank you, Kim

Hi Scribette and welcome to ehealth: Seeing you saw a doctor on this I think you are fine...I wouldn't worry too much about the pain unless it continues to bother you....Keep the area clean and call her if you are concerned...Take care...

Scribette - I can't believe what I've just read! Go back to your doctor immediately and ask for an immediate referral to a dermatologist at the hospital. You may well have melanoma and need to be tested. If melanoma is caught in the early stages it can be cured, but not if it is left. This has happened to me and I'm in Stage 3 awaiting radiotherapy after surgery, the prognosis is not good. Please stop what you're doing and make that phone call now.
From a well wisher.
