since i could remember, i have been pounding my head at night. when i do it, i lay on my stomach and my head lifts up and pounds against my pillow constantly for minutes up to hours in some nights. i am completely unaware i am doing it because i am asleep. I do not do it every night, only occasionally. but still, the morning after those occasional nights, i feel like i did not get any sleep through the night and my forehead burns from rugburn. I am 18 but the doctor said i would stop by the age of ten. about a year ago he then suggested me taking some melatonin before i go to bed but it did not work. I still pounded my head and the melatonin just made me feel drowsie the next morning. what can you diagnose this as and how can i stop it?
